Last Sunday, I left the calendar.
And my first thought was, “oh gosh, what have I done with my life?”
And I guess it’s easy to get caught up in the things you haven’t done, that you forget the things that you’ve already done.
And looking back, I’ve commanded armies spanning many eras, conquering empires. I’ve been a soldier in world wars, past, present, and the not too distant future. I’ve saved princesses, I’ve slain dragons and demons. I’ve rescued countless lives from fatal situations. I’ve won the boxing championship belt and UFC championship title in different weight classes. I’ve been an assassin and a samurai fighting for different causes. I’ve beaten down King Koopa and I’ve defeated Donkey Kong. I’ve built and designed houses and apartments, and controlled many sims. I’ve visited a vast number of planets and met many different sentient species. I’ve survived a zombie apocalypse by myself and with friends. I’ve donned the cape and cowl and brought villains such as the Joker and Bane to justice. I’ve built small towns and grown them into a bustling metropolis.
But unlike the world of video games, you don’t get to reload from a saved game in real life. There is no restart option. I’ve gone through life, achieving great heights, and catastrophic lows, but that’s just how life really is.
Which is why I’m thankful for the people I have in my life, who have been there for me through thick and thin, when I was at my best and at my worst. Who were there to tell me “hey keep your chin up”, when the defecation hit the oscillation, and who were there to celebrate with me during the big and small victories in life.
There’s so much life to be lived, and I thank God that mine is just beginning.
Cheers to love and life!
